F1 champion Lewis Hamilton: “As long as I have air in my lungs I will continue to fight against racism and inequality”

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has announced via social media that he will continue to fight against racism and inequality.

Hamilton begins his social media speech by stating that he is proud of his colleagues who knelt with him during the anti-racism moments before the start of the F1 races last year. But at the same time he also says that the battle is far from over and that as long as he has air in his lungs, he will continue to fight.

Black Lives Matter. Last year, some of us knelt for equality and I’m proud of that, ”said Hamilton. “My question is, what’s next? Inequalities within our sport and within the world persist. Change is still needed. ”

“We must continue to make efforts to hold ourselves and others accountable. We must continue to strive for equality for all to continue to see real and lasting change in our world. As long as I have air in my lungs, I will continue to fight for change in everything I do. I will work to create pathways and opportunities for children of color within science, engineering and creative disciplines. Let’s keep pushing. What are you committed to? ”
