In the past two seasons, Max Verstappen has crushed his teammates at Red Bull and Alpha Tauri team principal Franz Tost predicts he will also beat Sergio Perez, he tells ‘Motorsport.com’.
Since Daniel Ricciardo’s departure from Red Bull, Max Verstappen has had little trouble outclassing his teammates. First, Pierre Gasly succumbed to the pressure and his successor, Alex Albon, suffered the same fate last year.
Now, in the person of Sergio Perez, he gets someone next to him with a lot of experience, someone who knows what he is getting into and that is exactly where the problem was with Pierre Gasly, according to Tost.
“Pierre had Max Verstappen as a teammate and he demolishes everyone who comes next to him, with the exception of a few drivers,” said Tost.
“If you arrive somewhere with high expectations as a newcomer, you will die if you get someone like Max Verstappen next to you with four to five years of experience in F1. He is one of the fastest drivers in the field and he also found a car that did not suit him. ”
Alex Albon was also no challenge for Verstappen as a teammate and next season Sergio Perez will compete with the young Dutchman. The Mexican has ten seasons of experience in Formula 1 and can call himself a race winner since last year.
“If the car suits him, Perez will certainly have good results. He will leave his mark and score a lot of points, but he will not let himself be broken by Verstappen, he knows how fast he is. Perez knows that Max will bend him and that he has no chance. ”
