The new F1 season will really start soon. A limited audience is already allowed during the first race in Bahrain. Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff, however, expects that there will soon be racing again with a large audience in the stands.
“I am always pessimistic by nature and always try to take into account a worst-case scenario,” the Mercedes motorsport boss told ‘Sky Deutschland’.
“We see that the trend with vaccinations is very positive, at least here in England. I think that more than thirty percent of the population has now been vaccinated and that will soon be the case in other countries as well. ”
Toto Wolff therefore expects that it will soon be possible to race back with fans in the stands.
“I think we will be able to race with fans in the stands here and there, maybe with proof of vaccination or not in front of full stands. However, it will be another step towards returning to a normal situation. ”
“Of course this virus will make it difficult for us, but we will learn to live with it and try to overcome it. I think that by summer or fall, Formula 1 could have spectators again, even a lot of spectators, ”concluded the Mercedes motorsport boss.
