F1 has two new safety cars: Mercedes and Aston Martin alternate

Formula 1 has proposed the safety car for the new F1 season 2021. In contrast to previous years, there will be two safety cars from this year onwards.

Mercedes has provided the safety car in Formula 1 since 1996, but from this year it is no longer the only supplier of the safety car. In addition to the brand with the star, Aston Martin is also a supplier of the safety car.

The British sports car manufacturer is supplying a special version of Vantage for the Safety Car. The Aston Martin DBX will be used as the medical car. Mercedes will continue to use the Mercedes-AMG GT R and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Estate, just like last year, although both cars will now be given a red lick of paint.

Mercedes and Aston Martin will alternately provide the safety car with Aston Martin providing the safety car immediately during the first race in Bahrain. Bernd Maylander has been the official safety car driver since 2000. Maylander only missed one more F1 race because he was injured himself.
