The Opel Grandland X also gets an Opel Manta nose

Opel is flourishing under the wings of PSA (Citroën, DS and Peugeot). General Motors got rid of the loss-making German volume brand in 2017, after which the new French owner embarked on a rigorous reorganization. In record time – after just one year – Opel was profitable again. Which puts General Motors in a bit of a questionable light. Because how is it possible that the American car giant for nineteen years (!) – Opel has been at a loss since 1999 – has not been able to find the leak at Opel?

The first generation Opel Manta as an example

Anyway, Opel is on the right track and has been working on its design language for some time now. The manufacturer has delved into the past and has taken the first generation Opel Manta as a great example. You see it on the Opel Mokka, for example: the slim headlights, the elongated grille and the Opel logo as a visor in the middle of it. At the end of last year, Opel facelifted the Crossland X. On that model, the new nose does not come into its own, but okay… it is a facelift.

New Opel Grandland soon without X

And the larger Opel Grandland will also get that. We deliberately write ‘Opel Grandland’, because the X, which is still behind the type designation, will be canceled. The model will receive various updates, both externally and internally. Inside the cab, the Grandland will get a new infotainment screen and probably digital clocks in front of the driver. Opel is also working on the equipment, the materials used, the colors and the available wheels.

Opel Grandland engine offer the same

Little changes under the skin. The Opel Grandland is available with a diesel engine (the 1.5 CDTI with 130 hp), as a hybrid (225 or 300 hp) and as a 1.2 or 1.6 Turbo (130 or 180 hp). All models have front-wheel drive, except the 300 hp 1.6 Turbo Hybrid4, which has four-wheel drive. The 1.2 Turbo and the 1.5 CDTI are available with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. Automatic transmission is standard on all other Opel Grandland models.
