Jeroom’s racing car “Project Dafalgan” is supposed to make other racers sick

Transforming a racing car into an Art Car has always been a big dream of cartoonist Jeroom. This was fulfilled when decorating a car for the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Benelux. ‘Project Dafalgan’ should even yield a sporting advantage.

“As a child I had posters of the BMW Art Cars of Roy Lichtenstein and Frank Stella hanging on my wall,” Jeroom admitted at the presentation of the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Benelux at Circuit Zolder. “I wanted to design a racing car like that myself. When the people of BMW Belux gave me that chance, I was very pleased. ”

Jeroom went for a separate design, which in his eyes should provide an undeniable sporty advantage.

“I have indeed approached it scientifically”, the artist stated before the canvas was removed from the car. “You just have to achieve better results with this car. Not by driving faster, but by making the competition nauseous. By creating confusion. I therefore named the design ‘Project Dafalgan’. ”

Once the car was driven out of the pit box, Jeroom’s train of thought became completely clear. By decorating the car at the front, rear and on both sides with increasingly smaller photos of the same car, it is difficult for the viewer to suppress a feeling of dizziness.

“Those driving behind this car get discouraged because they think there are three BMWs to be overtaken at once, and those who see this car approaching in the mirror are startled by the sight of the impending danger,” said Jeroom. “This car just has to win races.”
