Will we have a fight in the streets of Monaco between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen?

Somewhat surprisingly, Charles Leclerc took pole position for the Monaco GP. Leclerc is thus the first Monegask to start from pole position during an F1 race in Monaco.

That pole position was hanging by a thread because Leclerc crashed during the final minutes of qualifying. Qualifying was therefore early, but it was mainly feared that Leclerc would have to give up his pole position again because the crash might have forced him to change his gearbox and therefore receive a grid penalty. However, Ferrari came this morning with the reassuring message that Leclerc’s gearbox had not sustained serious damage to his F1 car in the crash and that he can therefore just start from pole. Charles Leclerc will start from pole position together with Max Verstappen and it looks as if the battle for victory will be between the two of them, as the very narrow street circuit of Monaco is extremely difficult to overtake. World Cup leader Lewis Hamilton seems to be doing a bad thing as a result. After all, Hamilton did not get past a seventh fastest time during qualifying and a difficult battle awaits to eventually reach the podium.1 16 C. Leclerc Ferrari
