In the eighties and nineties, Honda was a player to be reckoned with in the Netherlands. The Japanese brand sold between 5000 and 8000 copies per year of the Civic alone. That number has now fallen to less than 200. Only the Civic 5-door is still sold with us. The 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe and sporty Type-R are reserved for the rest of the world.
This new Honda Civic 5-door will not hit the European market until autumn 2022. In terms of design, Honda has clearly opted for an evolution of the previous model, with the same basic shape, but fewer lines and corners. The dashboard of the eleventh-generation Civic is minimalist, but otherwise unsurprising, with the only striking element being a ventilation grille that runs the entire width of the car.
Honda wants to supply only electrified models in Europe from 2022. The manufacturer is not yet about the specifications of the Civic, but we assume that we will see the powertrain from the Honda Jazz in the Civic: a 1.5 Hybrid with 109 hp. There will no doubt be stronger versions. The 2.0 Hybrid powertrain from the Honda CR-V, for example, which is good for 215 hp.
