This is how the renewed Kia Ceed imitates the BMW 4-series

Just a little reassurance if you have just ordered a new Kia XCeed: it will remain unchanged for a while – but not for too long … The Ceed, ProCeed and Ceed Sportswagon, on the other hand, do not escape the urge to innovate. It is primarily recognizable by the two gigantic air scoops at the bottom of the bumper. With this, Kia wants the so-called tiger nose probably give the Ceed an even more menacing appearance.

Standard LED light on new Ceed

The headlight housings are unchanged, but the layout of the (standard) LED lighting has been adjusted. If you are nevertheless not sure whether it is the renewed Ceed that you encounter, pay attention to the logo. If that is a somewhat unclear scribble without an oval around it, then it is indeed the modified version. No facelift is complete without new taillights and the Kia Ceed also complies with that rule. At least, the GT versions of the hatchback. They get clearly recognizable taillights with LEDs in a honeycomb-like motif.

Digital Instrumentation

Inside, the dashboard is brightened up with a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation. Together with the 10.25-inch multimedia screen, this gives the interior a more modern character. For the seat cover you can still choose from five different options, but three of them have been adjusted. You can opt for a combination of black suede with black leather and contrasting stitching in gray or red.

With which powertrains will the Ceed be available?

In its press release, Kia speaks jubilantly about the ‘new’ four-cylinder 1.5-liter engine (160 hp), but you could also get it in the current edition of the Ceed. With or without mild hybrid technology. However, the engine range starts with the 120 hp three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDi. Top version is the 1.6 T-GDi with 204 hp, which can only be combined with a 7-speed automatic.

The plug-in hybrid will also remain available, still only in the Sportswagon (and the XCeed). As before, it combines a turbo-less 1.6-litre petrol engine with a battery pack of 8.9 kWh, good for an electric range of 57 kilometers. The system power of 141 hp is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Safety systems Kia Ceed upgraded

Kia has also upgraded the safety systems of the new Ceed range. Among other things, by combining the blind spot assistance with an active evasive aid. You can activate the new active lane assistance separately from the active cruise control. For example, Kia could also apply the system to manual Ceeds. In addition, the reversing aid and the warning for traffic crossing behind have been improved.

When will the new Ceed be available and what are the prices?

The renewed Ceeds will come off the production line at the Slovakian Kia factory from mid-August 2021. A month later they are in the showroom. Kia will soon announce what the ferociously sniffing Ceeds will cost.
