Austrian René Hofer beats Jago Geerts in GP of Pietramurata MX2

Austrian motocross rider René Hofer (KTM) won the Pietramurata GP in the MX2 class on Wednesday in Italy. Jago Geerts (Yamaha) finished second in this fifteenth World Cup round.

For 17-year-old Hofer it is his first GP victory. He won the second heat after finishing fourth in the first heat. Geerts finished second and sixth in the series. Spaniard Ruben Fernandez (Honda) completes the podium.

Frenchman Maxime Renaux (Yamaha), fifth, continues to lead the World Cup standings for Geerts (595 against 508 points) with a large lead.

Julian Vander Auwera (Kawasaki) finished the GP in 30th place ahead of Florent Lambillon (KTM).
