On Wednesday evening, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20) spoke to the international press for the last time this season. Last year Neuville had to give up in Monza. This year he wants to go all out for the win.

The explorations of the Rally di Monza are still in full swing, but he likes what Neuville saw. “The classification stages are in better shape than last year. The organizer has done a good job in that regard. Thursday we will continue the reconnaissance. The weather conditions will have their influence this weekend. Stable and dry weather is forecast, but nights will be chilly. In the mountains it can be foggy and at dawn the roads can be damp. It will be demanding conditions. To win a World Cup rally, everything has to fall into place. I have a feeling that this will be even more the case here compared to the Rally of Spain, which we won recently.”
Neuville is also taking stock of the past season. “I am very satisfied with the performance we have achieved. I am less satisfied with the end result,” says the Belgian. “I felt like I had more control this year, that I almost always found a good rhythm. Together with Martijn, who I will continue to work with next year, we were very consistent. We’ve been on the podium many times and won two rallies so far. But there were also moments where we were less happy, such as in Kenya, Portugal and also Greece. Without the technical specifications, the end result would have been better. We didn’t always have everything in our own hands. But, it is what it is.”
