You can say a lot about the current Kia Niro, but not that it is a design masterpiece. The second generation does better in that area, with a more expressive front and a C-pillar that reminds us of that of the Smart ForFour. But not only the rear side panel has a different color. The Kia designers have done the same trick around the front wheel arches and on the bottom of the doors.
The interior looks very sleek, with a dashboard that runs like a triangle from the digital instrumentation to the infotainment screen to the storage compartment above the glove compartment. Naturally, the whole is made of all kinds of recycled materials, such as the headliner made of old wallpaper, chairs made of eucalyptus leaves, but also environmentally friendly lacquer on the door panels.
Kia has not released any information about the technology yet. We only know that the Niro will once again be available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric car. The PHEV has a so-called Greenzone Drive Mode, which knows where the environmental zones are and then automatically switches to fully electric drive. The Kia Niro will be on the Seoul Mobility Show for the next two weeks and will be launched in Europe in the middle of next year.
