Tesla Adds Anti-Social Driving Mode to Full Self-Driving Beta

When you order a Tesla, you can for 7500 euros order the Full Self-Driving Capability extra. That misleadingly named extension of the Tesla Autopilot system does not make the car self-driving. Not now and not for years to come. Tesla writes that in the fine print that is very sneaky under the Full Self-Driving option.

Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta rolled out on a limited scale

In 2021, Tesla started rolling out a beta version on a limited scale. There are now dozens of YouTube videos showing that FSD Beta – as Tesla calls the system – is actually too dangerous for use on public roads. But hey … apparently Tesla is allowed to use its own customers as beta testers in the United States.

Three Riding Modes in New Update for FSD Beta

Anyway, there is a new update for FSD Beta, which adds what are known as FSD Profiles. With that, you can let your Tesla know how you want it to drive semi-autonomously. There are three options: Chill, Average and Assertive. The last two are interesting, in which the car will do criminal things with your consent.

Ignore the stop sign and stick to the left lane

In Average mode, the Tesla does not stop at a stop sign, but slowly rolls onto the road. In the Netherlands you can be fined 150 euros for this. If you switch the FSD Profile to Assertive, the Tesla on the highway also remains in the ‘passing lane‘ hang in the left lane. katching! More than 200 euros fine.

Aren’t self-driving cars supposed to make traffic safer?

That Tesla has added these options to FSD Beta is asking for trouble. The system is not working perfectly and then you are also going to allow it to break traffic laws. Moreover, it is the intention that (partly) self-driving cars are safer, because they remove human errors and human aso behavior from traffic?
