The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was introduced in 1973 as a racing homologation special. The plan was to build 500 of them, but the 911 GT3 of its day proved so popular with Porsche customers that the production counter eventually stopped at 1580. Compared to a standard 911, the Carrera RS 2.7 is lighter and more powerful, with a modified chassis, better brakes and a recognizable ducktail-spoiler.
