Citroën Ami Buggy – We have never seen such a cute ‘army vehicle’

Look at that Citroën Ami Buggy are resolute! With its matte camouflage colour, its yellow corporal stripes and its doors like crush barriers. We know better, but otherwise we would think that this is a tiny, electric army vehicle. But no, you will soon be able to buy the Ami Buggy, in a very limited edition.

The reaction of the public to the My Ami Buggy Concept at the end of December was so positive that Citroën is coming up with a consumer version. A bit toned down, though, as the study’s all-terrain tires, roof-mounted spare wheel, headlight bars and windshield spotlights didn’t make it to production.

Citroën Ami Buggy without doors, with a fence

Still, there are a lot of electric carts here. The matte green camouflage color gives it an army vibe, as do the yellow stripes on the nose, which would symbolize the rank of corporal in a soldier. It is also striking that Citroën has pulled the doors from the hinge and has mounted a kind of fence in its place.

Edition of 50 pieces, numbered plaque on the dashboard

The Citroën Ami Buggy will go on sale on June 21, unfortunately only in France for the time being. No more than 50 pieces will be made. Each one has special gold-coloured wheels, a numbered plaque on the dashboard and an open roof that can be rolled up, as was also possible in the Citroën 2CV in the past.

Auto Review already drove the Citroën Ami from Opel

Nothing changes in the powertrain of the Citroën Ami. It is an electric microcar with a top speed of 45 km/h and a range of about 70 kilometers. A few weeks ago, Auto Review editor Bart Smakman was allowed to drive the Opel variant: the Rocks-e. You can read in his first review that he was very enthusiastic.
