Looking for a lease car? From 2025 you can only choose an electric one

Well, many lease drivers have already opted for an electric car in recent years, since the addition was nice and low, but from 2025 you cannot choose anything else, if it is up to the cabinet.

State Secretary for Infrastructure and Water Management Vivianne Heijnen wants to accelerate the greening of the Dutch vehicle fleet by obliging business drivers to opt for an electric car from 2025. The Telegraph reports this based on The Hague sources.

Electric lease fleet provides significant CO2 and nitrogen reduction

The measure would be necessary to achieve the environmental targets. A lease fleet that is only electric will result in an enormous reduction in CO2 and nitrogen emissions, is the government’s reasoning. The Netherlands wants to ban the sale of new fuel cars from 2030, so private individuals can opt for a petrol or diesel model for another five years.
