Thierry Neuville wins first classification stage in Rally of Finland


Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) has won the first classification stage in the rally of Finland, the eighth round of the World Cup, on Thursday evening.


The number two in the World Cup standings completed the 3.48 km in Harju in 2:41.7, 1.2 seconds faster than his Estonian teammate Ott Tänak. The Japanese Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) set the third time at 2.6 seconds.

Home driver and World Cup leader Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota), who was the best in the morning’s shakedown, clocked fourth at 2.7 seconds from Neuville.

In total, the rally drivers will complete 22 classification stages in Finland until Sunday. They will compete in nine tests on Friday.
