During the summer break, we often take stock and look back at the season so far. For Charles Leclerc it is with very mixed feelings.
“Whether it was highs or lows, there hasn’t been a single race this season without emotion,” Leclerc told BBC Sport’s Andrew Benson, looking back on the F1 season so far.
“Whether it was a win or being in the lead after which problems arise. A lot of things happened during the first part of the season.”
Leclerc mainly tries to remember some positive aspects, such as how competitive the Ferrari F1 car is, even though he is now facing an 80-point deficit.
“First of all, it’s great that we can fight for victories again,” said Leclerc. “On the other hand, we haven’t been able to maximize the potential and that’s not great.”
“We still have the second half of the season to catch up. I hope we succeed, we will push to the maximum. However, the past races have been very difficult.”
