Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) dropped to seventh place on Friday after the first stages of the day in the Finland rally, the eighth round of the World Cup. His Estonian teammate Ott Tänak is in the lead.

Neuville, who took the lead after the first stage on Thursday, had a difficult start to the day. He set tenth in stage two, then ninth in third and seventh in fourth. He fell to seventh overall. After the cancellation of the fifth stage for safety reasons, the rally driver from Sankt Vith closed the first part of the day well with the second fastest time in the sixth stage.
Neuville is now in seventh place in the overall standings, 25.7 seconds behind Ott Tänak, who is in the lead with a 6.2 seconds lead over Finn Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) and 11.1 seconds over the Briton Elfyn Evans (Toyota).
In total, the rally drivers will complete 22 classification stages in Finland until Sunday. On Friday they will compete in a total of nine tests.
