Nyck de Vries escapes fatal crash: “Without Halo I would be a bit smaller”

During the first of two Formula E races, we had a strange crash involving eight cars. Also Nyck de Vries who ended up under Buemi’s car and possibly escaped death thanks to the Halo.

Nyck de Vries can still laugh about it after the crash with eight cars, but he also realizes that his crash could have ended completely differently without Halo. At the same time, it is also questionable how easily the Formula E cars can slide under each other. Nyck de Vries does not want to criticize that too much.

“Who am I to judge that?” the Dutchman told ‘’. “I am not part of the committee that works with the designers who have developed the current generation of Formula E cars.”

“Without the Halo I would have been even smaller than I am now. I went pretty deep under the other car. Let us laugh about it instead of weeping.”

“Luckily the Halo was there and saved me. But I agree, these cars are probably sliding under each other a little too easily. But again, who am I to say anything about that?”
