This Mercedes EQS, tuned by Brabus, is extremely … um … efficient?

brabus. When you hear that name, you think of 900 horsepower Mercedes G 63s with rabid carbon fiber Halfords parts glued to them. “Power!” Jeremy Clarkson would say. So we were a bit surprised when the press release about the Mercedes EQS from Brabus came in. That electric plug-in limousine has not become more powerful at all, but more economical …

The Mercedes EQS is the sleekest production car in the world, with a cW value of just 0.20. Brabus thought that this could be done even better, so the tuner dived into the wind tunnel. What else should you do with an electric car? They are already strong, there is not much you can change about that as a tuner.

Mercedes EQS even more streamlined than usual

The result of Brabus’ wind tunnel tests are aerodynamic adjustments to the EQS, giving the five-door hatchback a 7.2 percent better cW value. Between 100 and 140 km/h, the Mercedes is 7.0 percent smoother, which makes the limousine more efficient, resulting in a greater range.

Less buoyancy due to Brabus spoilers

According to Brabus, the new front spoiler lip provides a 100 percent reduction in buoyancy. In other words: the nose of the EQS is no longer pushed up at high speed, which improves stability. The rear diffuser and spoiler reduce lift by 40 percent.

Air suspension could be a bit lower, Brabus says

Also available for the EQS is a Brabus module for the air suspension, which lowers the electric Mercedes 15 millimeters at the front and 20 millimeters at the rear. Also good for air resistance. We don’t need that oversized Brabus logo pontifically in the ‘grille’. Just give us the Mercedes star.
