Max Verstappen fastest during qualifying: “The car is very good, a lot possible during the race”

Max Verstappen set the fastest time during qualifying for the Belgian GP but will start from the back due to a grid penalty. However, Verstappen showed that he is by far the fastest at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend and that should make his catch-up race easier.

“It was a fantastic qualifying,” Verstappen said afterwards, as can be read on his official website. “We’ve been in good shape all weekend. The car is very good and we tried to fine-tune a bit during qualifying. In the end, everything fell into place.”

Due to his grid penalty, Verstappen will have to start the race from fifteenth place and is therefore waiting for a catch-up race. However, Verstappen proved to be quick and that should make that catch-up race a little easier.

“Looking at the race I had to be careful with the amount of tires I used, but I’m very happy with my lap. It’s great to be here with this beautiful track and the fantastic fans. I hope they had a nice day.”

“The important thing is that we survive the first round and then we have to work our way forward before we are in a competitive position. In that sense it is a bit like Hungary. Of course we are a bit further back now, but basically it’s the same. With a car like this it would be a shame not to be on the podium.”
