George Russell: “Mercedes could win in Austin”

So far, Mercedes has failed to come close to a win, though it did manage to take some podium finishes in the midst of a difficult season. However, according to George Russell, an opportunity may present itself in Austin.

Looking ahead to Singapore, George Russell is asked if Mercedes could possibly win at any point during the remaining races of the season. His answer to that is telling.

“I’m not really sure,” Russell said. “There are not immediately circuits that stand out.”

“Singapore could be interesting but historically it is a track where Mercedes has had some problems. We know that we have not performed very well on street circuits so far this season.

“I would say Austin, I think Austin is a track that suits us better, but I really wouldn’t know.”
