Max Verstappen beats Lewis Hamilton and is the new big earner in Formula 1

No longer Lewis Hamilton, but Max Verstappen is the sole ruler in terms of earnings in Formula 1. Hamilton was the biggest earner in Formula 1 for years, but that is now Max Verstappen, at least according to the American business magazine Forbes.

After all, Forbes has drawn up a list of the highest paid F1 drivers this year and Max Verstappen is at the top for the first time. According to Forbes, the two-time F1 champion earns a whopping $60 million.

Verstappen would receive a salary of $ 40 million per year and on top of that there was also another $ 20 million in bonuses. The amount of bonuses was so high due to the many victories as well as the achievement of the world title.

Lewis Hamilton has always been at the top of Forbes’ list in recent years, but this year Hamilton has to be satisfied with second place. Hamilton earns ‘only’ 55 million dollars, with which he has to let Verstappen go ahead with 5 million dollars more.

A striking third in the list is two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso who receives a hefty salary of no less than 30 million dollars at Alpine.

Rider Base salary Bonuses Total
Max Verstappen $40 million $20 million $60 million
Lewis Hamilton $55 million $55 million
Fernando Alonso $30 million $30 million
Sergio Perez $10 million $16 million $26 million
Charles Leclerc $12 million $11 million $23 million
Sebastian Vettel $15 million $2 million $17 million
Daniel Ricciardo $15 million $2 million $17 million
Carlos Sainz $8 million $7 million $15 million
Lando Norris $5 million $6 million $11 million
George Russell $3 million $7 million $10 million

In compiling the list, Forbes relied on team financial documents, legal documents and various other sources. These are always gross amounts without taking into account taxes or fees for managers. In addition, personal sponsorship income and other commercial activities are not taken into account.
